Our work with the JLL Foundation to produce their Annual Reports augments Gabriel’s longstanding experience in researching and reporting on sustainability initiatives. The JLL Foundation is an impact investor focused on climate-mitigating startups, backed by JLL, one the world’s largest commercial real estate and investment management companies.
In 2025, the JLL Foundation issued loans amounting to the largest annual sum to date, a total of USD5.1 million deployed to 15 climate startups. Since its inception in 2022, the Foundation has invested over USD16.8 million in 62 companies across five continents.
“Our zero-interest loan program for climate startups is the cornerstone of our impact strategy, providing crucial early-stage capital to innovative companies developing climate solutions. By removing the burden of interest payments, we enable entrepreneurs to focus entirely on developing technologies and services that address climate challenges in the built environment and beyond,” said JLL Foundation Executive Director and JLL Chief Sustainability Officer, Erin Meezan.
Liz Campbell-Warner, Gabriel’s Chief Writer and Head of Strategy & Research, led the project, covering the inspirational achievements of these startup companies and how the Foundation helped. The Foundation’s 2025 portfolio of companies actively decarbonizes the environment, powers a cleaner future, and advances a global circular economy. “Together”, said Erin, “we are building a more sustainable and equitable future for all.”

“As impact investors, we have helped these companies survive and thrive by deploying catalytic capital and through their association with the JLL brand. By reinvesting returned funds, we are building a sustainable model that benefits all stakeholders.”
